It will not ordinarily be deemed the most fun game in the arena of gaming, but keno has millions and millions of passionate enthusiasts. And it should! It’s a routinely thrilling lotto-like game that’s uncomplicated to learn, readily available in a number of assorted formats, and one that will yield mega-dollars for people who learn its endless subtle nuances. But let’s begin with the basic facts here.

When defining keno to newcomers, some gambling pros compare it to the lottery. This is at least to some extent correct, in that both games are basically numerical. However, to carry that comparison too far might be to downplay the great many unique aspect that make keno so fun. Unlike bingo, keno gamblers have the ability to select the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the user is given an additional degree of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as he wants. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your selected numbers with a good oldpen like you had when you were in grade 3.

Now that you’ve selected your numbers, take your game card back to the girl at the keno stand. The clerk will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) valuable bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and would like to help out, without a winning ticket on you, you will get precisely $.00 for your time spent.

OK, so there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno slip. Let’s get on to something a tiny bit more advanced, yes?

Now that you’ve picked out your numbers, settle into a comfortable keno booth and observe the action take place on the big keno monitor. That is where the winning numbers are shown for us. If you’ve got winning numbers, mark your card aptly. Be sure not to take your time, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You must get back to the keno stand to get your winnings, and a new drawing will surely begin within a few minutes.

Strategy #2: always make it back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you do not trust yourself to meet that five-minute margin every time, you always retain the option of using a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 slips. When the maximum number of games (matching the amount of tickets) is completed, you are then able to get off your numb bum and go collect your winnings.

Yet another choice is referred to as a "stray and play" keno slip, which generally lets you make number selection for thirty games or more. Golly, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

So now you have learned a couple of indispensable schemes for winning keno. If you are an adept player, they may appear to be quite obvious. But it won’t hurt to brush up on the basic strategies, and if you are a novice user, every little bit of direction will help make your keno betting more enjoyable.
