It won’t commonly be looked at as the funnest game in the world of gambling, but keno has loads of zealous followers. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a constantly entertaining lottery-type game that’s a breeze to pickup, readily available in tons of assorted styles, and one that may return millions of dollars for those who master its limitless subtle intricacies. But let’s deal with the basics here.

When explaining keno to newcomers, some wagering experts compare it to the lottery. This is at least to a certain extent apt, in that both games are generally numerical. But to take that comparison too far might be to think too little of the great many unique traits that make keno so entertaining. Unlike bingo, keno users have the power to pick the numbers for every card.

Keno cards have a grand total of eighty numbers, but the gambler is given an increased degree of personal responsibility by being able to choose as numerous (or as few) numbers as she needs. And it doesn’t take a doctor of keno to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your chosen numbers with a standard#2 pencil like you had when you were in school.

Once you have marked your numbers, take your keno card back to the clerk at the keno booth. The keno pit manager will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not drop this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and would like to help out, without a winning slip on you, you will get exactly $.00 for your actions.

And there you have strategy numero uno: always be sure to keep your keno receipt. Let us go on to something a little more complex, yes?

Once you’ve picked your numbers, settle into a comfortable keno booth and observe the action happen on a video monitor. This is where the winning numbers show up for us. If you picked winners, mark your card appropriately. Sake care not to take too much time, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You need to get up to the keno booth to redeem your winnings, and then a new round of keno will most likely start up within five minutes.

Strategy #2: always be sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Since you do not trust yourself to meet that 5 minute margin each and every time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your chosen numbers on anywhere from 2 to twenty slips. When the maximum number of games (fitting the number of tickets) is completed, you will then be able to get off your lazy butt and go retrieve your winnings.

Still another choice is referred to as a "stray and play" keno slip, which commonly allows you make number picks for 30 rounds or more. Heck, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to worry about getting back in time to retrieve your numbers. Most "stray and play" game cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

And now you are aware of a couple of necessary schemes for winning keno. If you are an adept user, they may appear to be stupidly obvious. However, it won’t hurt to brush up on the basics, and if you are a beginner gambler, every tiny bit of advice will help make your keno playing more fun.
