It won’t often be thought of as the funnest game in the realm of gaming, but keno has tons of keen followers. And why not? It’s a consistently exciting lottery-type game that’s easy to play, readily available in many different variations, and one that will pay out millions for those who master its uncounted subtle intricacies. But let’s start with the basic facts here.
When explaining keno to novices, some betting connoisseurs compare it to lotto. This is at least in part apt, in that each game is essentially numerical. However, to carry that comparison too far is likely to be to belittle the innumerable unique characteristics that make keno so interesting. Unlike bingo, keno gamblers have the power to choose the numbers for each and every card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the player is granted an extra degree of personal responsibility by being able to select as many (or as few) numbers as he desires. And it doesn’t take a super genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your selected numbers with a ordinarymarker like you used back in the day.
After you’ve checked your numbers, take your keno card back to the person at the keno booth. The keno pit manager will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Make sure no to drop this (potentially) lucrative piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your mug and wants help out, without a winning receipt in hand, you will get precisely $.00 for your winning card.
Now there you have strategy number one: always be sure to keep your keno receipt. Let us move on to something a bit more advanced, shall we?
Once you’ve picked out your numbers, settle into a nice keno booth and watch the action happen on a big video monitor. That’s where the winning numbers show up for all to see. If you have winning numbers, mark your card accordingly. Make sure not to drag your feet, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You must get up to the keno stand to redeem your winnings, and a new keno game will probably begin within five minutes.
Strategy number 2: always make it back to the keno stand on time!
Assuming you do not trust yourself to meet that five-minute deadline each time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your handpicked numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 cards. When the max number of games (fitting the number of tickets) is finished, you can then get off your numb rump and go get your winnings.
Still another option is known as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which generally allows you make number choices for thirty keno games or more. Gosh, you can take vacation to France and not have to fret about getting back in time to get your winnings. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!
And now you are aware of a number of needed methods for winning keno. If you are an adept gambler, they might seem very obvious. Still, it won’t hurt to bone up on the basic strategies, and if you are a novice gambler, every little bit of information will help make your keno wagering more exciting.
